ai strategy &automationAdvice.

We assess how your business runs, score every workflow on AI fit, and hand you a plan your own team can deliver. No vendor pitches, no jargon. Just where the needle actually lands.

Assess, plan, advise, build. A staged route to AI that works in your business. It starts with a discovery session, and we’ll tell you straight where on the route you are.

/ 01 — assessThe diagnosis

Assess.

Where could AI actually help? We map how your business runs, find the highest-leverage opportunities, and tell you straight which AI bets are worth making and which to leave well alone.

/ 02 — planThe design

Plan.

What’s the path to value? Once we know where to focus, we design the roadmap. Tool choices, success metrics, integration points, and an order of work your team can deliver without us in the room.

/ 03 — adviseThe dialogue

Advise.

What happens after the plan? Ongoing strategic counsel as your AI estate grows. Vendor reviews, course corrections, team training, and the awkward questions you can’t put to the people selling you the tools.

/ 04 — buildThe delivery

Build.

Want it done, not just diagrammed? We build it. The apps, internal tools and automations from your roadmap, delivered and wired into how your team already works. Same honesty as the advice: we only build what earns its place.

We help you understand AI, choose it and roll it out, and when it makes sense, we build the apps, tools and automations for you. Strategy first, build second, and straight about which you need.

S2. Ep24 - How to Keep Your Business Running While You Take the Summer Off

What would happen to your business if you completely switched off for two weeks?

00:00
22:35

An AI agent system we designed from the ground up for small businesses. Long-term memory, business-specific skills, and predictable costs: the things off-the-shelf agents quietly get wrong.

/ why we built it

We kept advising clients on AI agents and kept hitting the same wall. Off-the-shelf tools forget everything between sessions, do generic work no matter the business, and run up costs you can’t predict. So we built the thing we wished existed: an agent that remembers your business, learns skills specific to how you operate, and costs the same every month. We use it ourselves, every day.

For a small team, Clyde takes on the repetitive back-office work that quietly eats your week: the chasing, the formatting, the copying between tools. It’s not a headcount replacement. It’s the difference between you doing the boring work and you running the business.

We don’t bundle Clyde into engagements. If it fits your plan we’ll mention it. If it doesn’t, we won’t, and we’ll tell you so.

  • What does Make Automations do?

We help small businesses work out where AI actually fits, then make it real. That means four things: we assess how your business runs, plan the route to value, advise you as you go, and build the apps, tools and automations when they earn their place. Strategy comes first. The tech comes second, and only when it pays for itself.

  • Do you just advise, or do you build it too?

Both, and we're straight about which you need. Plenty of consultancies hand you a slide deck and disappear. Plenty of agencies build whatever you ask for, whether it helps or not. We do the thinking and the building, which means our advice isn't quietly trying to sell you a build, and our builds come from a plan that actually holds up. We'll tell you honestly when building is worth it, and just as honestly when it isn't.

  • Will you push AI I don't actually need?

No. Half of good AI advice is knowing where it won't help. We'll point out the workflows where AI adds real leverage, and we'll be just as clear about the ones where it's a distraction, a needless cost, or a worse version of what you already do. If the honest answer is "you don't need AI for this," that's the answer you'll get. We'd rather keep your trust than win a sale.

  • Who do you work with?

Ambitious small businesses and solopreneurs across the UK and Europe. The common thread isn't size or sector, it's that you've got real work to improve and you want a straight read on whether AI can help. If you're a founder or small team feeling the pressure of repetitive work eating your week, you're exactly who we're built for.

  • Do I need to be technical?

Not at all. You bring the expertise on how your business actually runs, we bring the AI and automation side, and our whole job is to translate between the two without burying you in jargon. You'll always understand what we're recommending and why, in plain language. If a plan needs a computer-science degree to follow, we've written it wrong.

  • How much does it cost?

No quotes-on-request and no mystery maths. You always know the number before we start. Everything begins with a £150 discovery session: 45 minutes, paid, and useful on its own. From there our fixed-scope packages have published starting prices, an AI readiness audit from £3,200, build and automation work from £800, and an ongoing strategy retainer from £200 a month. Anything bespoke is scoped and priced up front, never after the fact. The full breakdown lives on our pricing page.

  • What's the difference between the discovery session and the readiness audit?

A fair question, because they sit at very different price points. The discovery session (£150, 45 minutes) is a focused conversation: you walk us through your business, we give you an expert read and a prioritised next step. The readiness audit (from £3,200) is the deep version, a half-day where we map how your business actually runs, score every workflow on AI fit, and hand you a written, prioritised plan your team can deliver. Think of the session as the conversation and the audit as the diagnosis. Most people start with the session, and we'll tell you whether the audit is worth it from there.

  • What happens in the discovery session?

A focused 45-minute paid session, with no pre-call homework. You walk us through how your business runs. We tell you straight where AI will earn its keep, where it won't, and what to do first. You leave with a clear, prioritised next step you can act on right away. No fluff, no sales pitch, just an expert read on your business and the highest-value moves to make.

  • Do I need to prep anything before we talk?

No pre-call homework, no pitch deck, no tidying up first. Come as you are, mess and all. The more honestly you can describe how things really work day to day, including the bits held together with sticky tape, the more useful we can be. Bring the real version, not the polished one.

  • Who will I actually speak to?

Noel. No call centre, no junior reading off a script, no sales funnel. Make Automations is deliberately small, which means the person who assesses your business is the person who advises you and, if it comes to it, builds for you. You get the principals, every time.

  • How long does a typical project take?

It depends on scope, and you'll get a realistic timeline as part of the plan rather than a vague "it depends." A discovery session is 45 minutes. The readiness audit and most builds are measured in days to weeks rather than months, and anything larger is broken into stages so you see value early. Whatever the work, you'll know the timeline before you commit, not halfway through.

  • What happens after you've built something?

We don't build it and vanish. Everything we build is wired into how your team already works and handed over properly, so you're not dependent on us to use it. If you want us to stay involved, the strategy retainer gives you ongoing counsel as your AI estate grows: vendor reviews, course corrections, and the awkward questions you can't put to the people selling you the tools. If you'd rather take it from here, that's fine too.

  • Can you train my team?

Yes. We run half-day and full-day workshops to get your team confident with the AI tools that actually matter to their work. Practical, not theoretical: real tools, real workflows, hands on keyboards. A lot of AI value is lost simply because nobody on the team knows how to use the thing properly, and that's a gap we're glad to close.

  • What is Clyde, and will you try to sell it to me?

Clyde is our own AI agent system, built from the ground up for small businesses, with long-term memory, business-specific skills and predictable monthly costs. We use it ourselves every day. But we don't bundle it into engagements or use our advice as a sales funnel for it. If Clyde genuinely fits your plan, we'll mention it. If it doesn't, we won't, and we'll say so. Our job is to recommend the right thing, not just our thing.

  • Is what I share with you confidential?

Yes. What you tell us about your business stays between us, and we're happy to sign an NDA before we talk if that makes the conversation easier. You can be candid about the messy bits without it going anywhere.
